Updated Results...

Posted by BurgiRacing

I finally took a moment to update my results from this past year.  They really sucked but I need to keep them up to date.  I've also plugged in the rest of the planned race rounds into the results.

2009 OMRRA Round 2 - 450 SBK Videos

Posted by BurgiRacing

Here are two videos of a single race from this past weekends racing at OMRRA in Portland, Oregon. My bike still has some more setup needed which became apparent in the race before this one. I didn't get a dry practice before my first race and since I'm still using my Pirelli rains from last year the settings are different than what the Dunlop DOT's need. I only had one race between my two so made some changes and hoped for the best. Well it helped out but the bike was still not staying down in the faster corners like I hoped it to. But I'm happy with the results of that race as comparing these times to last year I dropped 3 seconds a lap on average and throughout the entire race (except for the last lap) I continued to drop time. The last lap going into turn 1 I broke early and easy as I thought a leader was going to come through by then. So I was trying to make it easy for them. Well I messed up again and let the one guy who was following me the entire race by. Oh well...I hope I won't do that again.

Some videos from WERA West Round 2 - Vegas

Posted by BurgiRacing

I picked up a vHoldR camera for this round to start video taping my racing.  I'm still trying to integrate it into my routine just before I go out onto the track.

Up first is my LWT SBK race.  This is a rearwards facing camera

Up second is my forward facing camera for the Formula 2 race.  I'm not sure why the camera stopped recording but I hope it doesn't continue.

2009 WERA West – Round 1 – Auto Club Speedway – Jan 4th, 2009

Posted by BurgiRacing

"Am I doing this for naught?”

That’s the question I ask myself as I sit here a week later reflecting on round 1 with WERA West at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Ca.

It’s frustrating.  You travel 2300 miles round trip to go out and race for what ends up being 4 laps and after the race you find out you are still dead last. More...

Motor rebuilt...

Posted by BurgiRacing

Well I finally got my motor gone through and rebuilt.  My SV650 motor was a completely stock 2003 motor with 12k street miles and two race seasons.  So I turned to the local SV650 guru, Zlock Racing, to give my motor the special care it needs.  I wasn't doing the rebuild to gain a bunch of power as I still don't use all of the power the stock SV650 has.  I was doing it to make sure my bike stays reliable.  It sounds funny but the SV650 is a stressed motor compared to the I-4's.  More...

Switching tire manufacturer...

Posted by BurgiRacing

When I first started racing I ran Michelin's for two years.  The tires weren't bad but being new to this I decided that last year I would give Pirelli's a shot.  I'm still not sure about the tires.  I never got the feedback from them that I got from the Michelin's.  To be fair though I had complete new suspension on the bike.  The front end was changed from a supersport front end to a superbike.  This means it has a 2006 GSX-R600 front end installed and that got the Ohlin's 25mm cartridge kit.

So for 2009 I decided I wanted to try out some other tires, specifically Dunlop.  My suspension guy, Barry Wressel of GP Suspension North, is also the local Dunlop dealer and has been bugging me to try them for a couple of years now.  So I figure, let's give them a shot from the get go at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Ca.  Stay tuned as I'll be giving my impression of them after the race weekend on January 3rd.

Yup, my 2009 racing season starts in 4 weeks on January 3rd.  I can't believe it as I'm used to waiting until April but with doing WERA West this year the season starts literally the first weekend of the year.  Its going to be fun!
